ICED II assisted Bali Center for Sustainable Finance (BCSF), an organization that Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) established in 2017 to become a referral center for sustainable finance, to develop its strategic plan. In turn, having learned about BCSF plans, the Governor of Bali requested ICED II’s technical assistance to help the provincial government realize “Bali Self Sufficient, Clean, and Green Energy” vision. As a start, the Bali government has been drafting a governor’s regulation on clean energy and other energy planning documents such as Regional Energy Plan (RUED) and Regional Electricity Plan (RUKD). Developing these documents require the Bali government to get inputs from local and national energy stakeholders and synchronize the energy planning documents with national policies. In collaboration with BCSF host, Udayana University, ICED II is providing technical assistance to Bali government to synchronize their draft regulation and energy planning documents with national policies by holding two batches of workshops. These series of events also provide an avenue to strengthen BCFS’s role and capacity in Bali energy planning. The first batch of workshop took place on October 14-15, 2019 in Bali, where 70 members of local and national energy stakeholder participated in giving inputs to the RUKD draft. The two-day workshop resulted in a refined RUKD draft that the Bali local government will submit to the Bali Regional Assembly (DPRD) for further incorporation into Bali’s Regional Energy Plan in a DPRD meeting in November 2019. The second discussion series will take place on December 9-10, 2019 in Bali to discuss RUED finalization.
