Indonesia’s utility receives training on power system analysis.

13 June 2019

Indonesia’s State Electricity Company (PLN) had training on power system analysis from Professor Vijay VIttal from Arizona State University, supported by USAID through Indonesia Clean Energy Development II (ICED II) program. Held on June 10-14, 2019, the training was attended by 67 employees of PLN and Director General of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. They learned about how to ensure the stability of PLN’s power system to increase penetration of electricity from variable renewable energy such as solar photovoltaic and wind. The training aims to build PLN’s capacity in analyzing and controlling its power system to cope with disturbances in the power grids. The participants also learned about case studies from other countries, as well as root cause analysis and mitigation strategies. USAID expected the training will boost the expansion of variable renewable energy deployment in Indonesia, and address PLN’s main concerns in integrating variable renewable energy into their power grid.
