Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Works with USAID in Developing National Standards for Energy Efficiency Projects

9 July 2019

The Directorate of Energy Conservation (DKE) of Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has initiated to develop national competence standards on measurement and verification (M&V) for energy efficiency projects. The standards on M&V for energy efficiency projects will support Government of Indonesia’s commitment to reduce the country’s energy consumption. The standards will also contribute to success of energy efficiency projects and gain financing access for energy efficiency projects. In collaboration with the Directorate, USAID ICED II held the first part of focus group discussion series on July 4-5, 2019. This discussion focused on reviewing available international standards and to agree on which standards to use as reference for adoption. The collaboration allows for more intensive sharing of knowledge and lessons learned for further adoption in Indonesia, given Indonesia’s unique energy efficiency market characteristics. A total of 30 participants from various government units, professional associations, and universities participated in the discussion.
