USAID through Indonesia Clean Energy Development II (ICED II) facilitated a workshop on feasibility study and financial model of renewable energy power plant project investment for the staff of New and Renewable Energy Division of State Electricity Company (PLN). The training took place on November 20-21, 2019 and December 3-5, 2019 with a focus on wind power and solar photovoltaic (PV) power projects respectively. A total of 80 participants attended the trainings. USAID ICED II has developed guidelines for feasibility study reviews of wind power and solar PV power projects, as well as guidelines for financial model of renewable energy power plant project’s investment. USAID ICED II developed the guidelines in response to proposals that PLN regional offices received from independent power producers (IPPs) under current power purchase regulation. PLN regional offices need to review the feasibility studies of the proposed power projects as part of the negotiations for power purchase agreements (PPA). The training aims at enhancing the participants’ knowledge on actual projects in Indonesia and the participants’ capacity in reviewing and evaluating future proposals from the IPPs. The training also includes financial model of renewable energy power plant project’s investment that could help PLN analyse the financial viability level of the proposed project investment from the IPP.
