On June 9-11, 2020, PLN Corporate University hosted an online training of trainers (ToT) on evaluating proposed solar photovoltaic (PV) power projects. USAID Indonesia Clean Energy Development II (ICED II) organized the training for 70 PLN staff from various regional offices.

Co-delivered by PLN to ensure knowledge transfer, the training shared useful reference documents and hands-on tools to use when reviewing and evaluating solar PV projects’ feasibility study.

ICED II has developed a set of guidelines to assist staff of PLN in reviewing feasibility studies of various renewable energy power project types as proposed by independent power producers. To roll out the guidelines and to promote adoption of their use by PLN staff, ICED II and PLN Corporate University launched a series of ToT workshops.

As of June 2020, ICED II has held four batches of training of trainers, participated by 231 PLN staff in total. The first training was on February 24-25, 2020 with the focus on evaluating bioenergy power projects, while the second training was held on April 21-23 on hydropower projects. The ToT continued to the third series on May 18-20, 2020 on biogas power projects and the fourth on June 2-4, 2020 on waste-to-energy power projects.

A forthcoming training on evaluating wind power projects is scheduled later in June 2020.
