State Electricity Company PLN Adopts Guidelines for Improving Its Distribution Network

Indonesia’s State Electricity Company (PLN) is improving its distribution network with the support from the World Bank’s Power Distribution Development Program for Results (PforR) Project for Indonesia. USAID through Indonesia Clean Energy Development II (ICED II) assisted PLN in preparing Distribution System Planning Guidelines that respond to changes in technology and policy related to PLN’s medium and low voltage network.


USAID Concludes Online Training of Trainers with PLN

From February and June 2020, USAID ICED II and Indonesia’s State Electricity Company (PLN) held online training of trainers to improve PLN staff’s understanding in evaluating renewable energy projects. There have been four batches of the training as of June 2020, participated by 231 PLN employees. The last two trainings took place on June 9-11, 2020 on solar PV project appraisal and June 15-19, 2020 on evaluating proposed wind power projects.


California Utility Industry Official Shares Lessons Learned with Indonesia’s Energy Ministry in Adopting Smart Grid Technologies

A member of Indonesian diaspora in the U.S. shared his insights on smart grid technologies application and renewables-powered microgrid development to Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and State Electricity Company PLN. The online sessions between California and Jakarta that took place on June 11, 2020 and June 18, 2020 helped the Ministry in the transition process toward a more modern power system.


New Power Purchase Agreement Evaluation Handbook Provides Guidelines for Indonesia’s Financial Services Institutions

The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) hosted the launch of a handbook by USAID Indonesia Clean Energy Development II (ICED II), which provides guidelines for Indonesia’s services institutions to evaluate off-take agreement with State Electricity Company (PLN). The online launch on June 12, 2020, gave insights on banks and other financial services support for renewable energy investment in the country.
